Ageism is one of the few biases that we have against our future selves. Like other forms of discrimination, ageism is based in fear, not fact. This webinar explores the problems with ageism, how it's reinforced within society, how it affects our workplaces and what we can do about it.

About the Event

Join our resident American on Thanksgiving to discuss why we should embrace and be thankful for our age - instead of fighting it. What we should be fighting back against is ageism within our societies and within our workplaces.

You owe it to your future self to think about this. And you owe it to all the people, young and old, who are missing out on opportunities NOT because of their capabilities but because of their age and the stigma attached to it.

We blame our own ageing, instead of the ageism that renders these natural transitions shameful and the barriers acceptable. Discrimination - not ageing - is the barrier to full participation in the world around us. - Ashton Applewhite, This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism

We'll also reflect on the other side of the ageism coin; younger workers feeling excluded and devalued because of their age.

Do you have a story, experience, idea or question associated with Ageism? Share it here. We'd love to hear your thoughts before the webinar.

In this special 'Thanksgiving Edition' Tea & Toast webinar, Kristen will explore all this and:

  • her own journey with ageing / ageism
  • how society reinforced (and almost encourages) ageism as the norm
  • how much our mindset about ageing can affect our actual ageing
  • the effect of ageism within our workplaces
  • what we can each do to fight back against ageism

As always: All welcome, no charge.

BYO tea & toast!
