How Are You Curious?

November 8, 2018

"The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity."

- Dorothy Parker.

Well, we hope there isn't a cure.  Last month we were updating a programme on the growth mindset and self-directed learning. And the September/October Harvard Business Review  had a great article and self-assessment on curiosity: How Are You Curious? So we used it and it proved a hit.

25 statements (scored from 7-high to 1-low) give you a curiosity score on five different dimensions: deprivation sensitivity; joyous exploration; social curiosity; stress tolerance, and thrill seeking.

Two questions were about our curiosity in other people and what makes them tick:

  • I like to learn about the habits of others.

  • I like finding out why people behave the way they do.

How would you score yourself?

We recommend the assessment - a good lesson in self-awareness.
