What motivates us at work? Our third summary of Dan Pink'- purpose
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kb04guKIXQ Take a look at our third video summarising some of Daniel Pink’s ideas in his book: Drive, published in 2009. This video covers his ideas on purpose.

At this rate you won’t even have to read the book!
59 Seconds: think a little, change a lot: overcoming procrastination
This book, 59 Seconds: think a little, change a lot, by Richard Wiseman has attracted a fair bit of interest since it was published last year. Richard Wiseman is a UK-based Professor for the Public Understanding of Psychology. His aim with this book was to provide short summaries of proven psychological approaches (in 59 seconds) and debunk those that are commonly believed, but are untrue. This is a big ask, and we’re not convinced the book is all it’s cracked up to be. But it’s still an interesting read.
Wiseman mentions interesting research, some around procrastination - the Zeigarnik Effect. Think back to when you last took an exam. You cram, take the exam and then forget a lot of the information – the Zeigarnik Effect. You no longer have any practical and immediate need for the crammed information, so your brain dumps it and you feel like you’ve completed an important task.
So what has this got to do with procrastination? Everything. If you can be persuaded to start a task, even if you work on it for only a few minutes, then you will feel the urge to see it through to the end. Just like an exam, you will feel a sense of satisfaction, once it’s completed and out of the way. So, if you’re procrastinating – just do something to get started.
