What's new in the world?
Managing your energy: what’s your “Code”?
Check out www.theenergyproject.com
The Project’s basic idea is simple: manage energy not time. And energy has four elements: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. We’ve talked about it many times before. So what’s new?
Well, there is one very interesting idea that the Project has used with clients. Project CEO, Tony Schwartz, argues we should adopt new energy-creating rituals. And one is having open dialogue and a greater degree of trust at work. Not always easy.
But the way they achieved this, in one organisation, was by encouraging all staff to say the word “Code” to uncover all hidden feelings and issues. Just saying the word meant: “I really want to know what you’re feeling, so be straight with me.”
The result? After a while, “Code” communication became the norm and the organisation doesn’t need to use the word much anymore.
We think it’s worth a go. It’ll bring the ground truth, as we call it, to the surface and hopefully relegate the official truth to where it belongs—a position of irrelevance.
