Managing your energy levels at work
Check out www.corporateathlete.com Click on Find your current level of engagement. Free on the home page. You can complete a short survey and find out more about your energy levels and level of engagement. The Corporate Athlete/Levels of Engagement concept is worth a look. It says we should manage energy, rather than time, to achieve high performance. To do this, we need to build in recovery time from stressful work periods. Rituals that build in this recovery, such as regular walks and social activity, all help.
You can read more about this in The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz or the article, The Making of a Corporate Athlete, Harvard Business Review, January 2001. Well worth a look.
