Assessments
We offer two emotional intelligence assessments:
- Bar on EQi
- TMS Emotional and Social Intelligence Profile
Why use an assessment?
An assessment is an effective way to highlight aspects of emotional intelligence and point out areas of strength and those for development. We recommend using the assessments as part of a three-step process:
- Pre-meeting or mini-workshop with individual or group before completing the assessment.
- Individual or group completes on-line assessment.
- Follow up one-on-one coaching or group training session/workshop.

TMS Emotional and Social Intelligence Profile (ESI)
This assessment is built around four interconnected ideas:
- Self-Insight: primal intent, emotional awareness, personal competency
Self Insight is our ability to continuously and positively identify and learn from one’s own thoughts, goals, feelings, behaviours and competencies, in the context of personal relationships. - Self Mastery: resilience, learning energy, stress management
Self Mastery is our ability to enthusiastically and meaningfully craft, develop, realise and master personal intent, emotions, tendencies and capacities to achieve our full potential. - Social Insight: organisational awareness, interpersonal savvy, service orientation
Social Insight means our ability to read and understand emotional cues and reactions to people and the culture of an organisation, so you are more effective to serve and lead. - Social Mastery: impact management, leading group/team processes, relationship management
Social Mastery is our ability to sustainably and positively lead, develop and inspire others, build teams and genuine relationships in ways that caring, concern and conflict in a healthy way.
This assessment gives clear behaviours for each element. It’s an in depth and thought-provoking assessment.
Which is best - Bar On EQi or TMS (ESI)?
It's not a case of which is best. It's more a case of which is appropriate. Both measure some similar elements, but approach emotional intelligence differently. One key thing to remember is that both of assessments successfully lead to greater self-awareness and provide the foundation to develop emotional intelligence.
Why is this important?
Why is emotional intelligence this important?
Emotionally intelligent people are effective at work, as leaders and in life. They are very self-aware, and empathise and build relationships with others. These attributes can be developed.
